Hello and welcome to my very own little quilt along~
Today marks the day I begin my husband's birthday present {he turns the big 50} He wants a rustic, cabin like feel quilt for our bed. Our room is the final room in our little cabin to get renovated. Currently, he's building me a huge (14 x 8) walk in closet! He'd like a quilt without all the bright flowers and bright colors that I like. Something more 'manly'. {He actually showed me pictures. lol}
My hubby and I on a cruise last winter~
Okay. It's the least I can do! So...his birthday is September 5th....that's 12 weeks away. A little bit of a crunch, for sure. I look at it as a challenge! And why not make it fun. I'll be posting my progress each Wednesday on this soon to be fabulous quilt. I plan on including links to the blocks, processes, etc....that I choose to include in this quilt.
So...Week #1 begins with the planning, since you have to begin somewhere {and I took my sewing machine in for a tune up on Monday - won't be ready for a week}
Here's some of the idea's I've jotted down:
I want the blocks to be 12" or 6", so I've decided on 8 rows of 9 blocks.
The quilt will be approximately 96" x 108" King Size~
And some fabric.
{I've been collecting it for some time, as I knew this was coming}

The Giveaway: Leave a comment on a post and your name will go into a bucket for a drawing at the end of the quilt along! {September 2014} Leave a comment each week....12 chances to win. What you ask? Hmmm....that's in the works but I guarantee it will include fabric!
This is quite a challenge...I'm up for it! Afterall, I've been training for over 30 years! lol

VERY hard to choose, but I do especially like the first one. It somehow 'speaks' to me!
I like the first one also!
So many choices! I liked the first one until I saw the third one. It looks like a lot of work but I think it would be so worth it in the end.
Laura, whatever you choose will be so pretty and worth all the time you put into it. I love the fabrics you chose.
I think the bear one is the most "manly" looking. Have you seen the one that Moda Bake Shop is doing right now? Have fun with the designing.
Yes, I saw the Moda Trifle Layer! How fun is that one!
I think you should use a row or 2 of #1 and #3 and figure out how to put that big bear block in there somewhere and of course a couple of bear paw blocks and a couple of flying geese!
I think you definitely need a row of bears!
I look forward to seeing what you choose!! I like the wonky stars!
good luck what ever you choose
I really like the first one. The bears are good, but I'd only add one or one row of them.
I would add a row of log cabin blocks. Will be fun to watch each week as your quilt grows.
I like all of them too! Good luck with the quilt. I'll be watching to see what you decide on.
