New Swap Goodies!

I received this awesome Friendship Bag and goodies from Camila in Brazil!
The chocolate is to die for and she made the cutest little needlebook and pincushion!

The next day I received this sweet bag from Liz (oh sew liz) in the Pretty {little} Pouch Swap over on Flickr.  She included the goodies too!  I love the fish fabric and the QAYG.

It's been a good week!

Beejeebers~May 2013

It's a dreary, wet day here in Northern Michigan~got laundry and grocery shopping finished up this morning and spent the past few hours putting together this large Star Value quilt block for Melissa in my Beejeebers monthly bee.

The tutorial can be found HERE on Melissa's blog.

It's lots of pieces...but goes together real easy.  And it's huge:  a full 20".

Happy Mother's Day to all you mother's out there!

Back to work...sort of.

Shabby Chic Friendship Swap Bag 2

Pretty {little} Pouch Swap #7

Potholder Pass #13

Fab Little Quilt Swap #3

Vacation, then surgery.....it's been a rough month for crafting!  But I am back to work at my real job with the State of Michigan, at my volunteer job with the Animal Rescue Coalition and in my sewing room!

First had to finish up swaps that are coming due this week~  My partner for the Friendship Bag Swap loves shabby chic, hence the little bag.  I'll be filling it with all sorts of sewing goodies!

My partner for the Pretty {little} Pouch Swap loves bright colors and paper piecing~so I created this little wonky flying geese pouch.  I'm thinking I'm going to fill it with chocolate~

I received the owl potholders from Jodi B~dang they are just the cutest!

And...after waiting for what seemed like forever.....I received this darling little quilt from Karen (sewgentle) made with posy fabric!  It screams SPRING!

Happy Spring

Back from vacation....back to work....so little time lately to spend in my pink sewing room!
With Stanley....he missed me!

Just sharing a few things I'm working on.  This is the miniature quilt I've created for my partner at Flickr in the Fab Little Quilt Swap #3.  I've gone out of the box on this one....the colors and the pattern, but I think my partner will love it!  I based it on her favorites!  Only the quilting is left to do.

March Beejeebers was my month!  These are some of the mittens I created for an ISPY mitten quilt.  The mittens have been trickling in during March and April and I just about have all of them!  I'll share once I get them all.  They are all fabulous!

Lastly.....I've finally sewn my granny square quilt together....I've alway called it 'Munki in the Middle'.  It's now sandwiched and waiting for my quilting attention!  This will hang in my bedroom~

More later.....hoping Spring is finally on it's way!

New Tote Bag

I decided I needed a new tote bag for two reasons.

1.  I'm turning 50 next month and I'm treating myself to a Caribbean Cruise.
2.  I love all the quilt as you go totes I'm seeing on flickr and I want one.

So I started by cutting two 18" squares of batting and grabbed some of my favorite scraps, creating the tote panels base on the tutorial HERE.

When complete, I squared up my blocks to 15.5" x 17".

Cut the lining the same size.

Stanley was production supervisor today.

He didn't particularly care for my use of pink.  Or the doxie.

Decided I wanted a zipper.

Added the zipper like I was making a little pouch, as in the tutorial HERE.

I sewed 3" scraps together for the handles, 62" long x 2.

Folded to center and added 1/2" batting scraps.  Sewed 1/8" from each side.
I attached these to the front panels, then sewed the bag together.

The wonky side~

The doxie side~

I love my bag!  And it will be perfect to fit all my travel stuff in for my trip!!!
