New Tote Bag

I decided I needed a new tote bag for two reasons.

1.  I'm turning 50 next month and I'm treating myself to a Caribbean Cruise.
2.  I love all the quilt as you go totes I'm seeing on flickr and I want one.

So I started by cutting two 18" squares of batting and grabbed some of my favorite scraps, creating the tote panels base on the tutorial HERE.

When complete, I squared up my blocks to 15.5" x 17".

Cut the lining the same size.

Stanley was production supervisor today.

He didn't particularly care for my use of pink.  Or the doxie.

Decided I wanted a zipper.

Added the zipper like I was making a little pouch, as in the tutorial HERE.

I sewed 3" scraps together for the handles, 62" long x 2.

Folded to center and added 1/2" batting scraps.  Sewed 1/8" from each side.
I attached these to the front panels, then sewed the bag together.

The wonky side~

The doxie side~

I love my bag!  And it will be perfect to fit all my travel stuff in for my trip!!!

It looks perfect! Until recently I would have agreed with Stanley about the pink but that color grows on you.

That bag is gonna be loved on your cruise! Maybe Stanley is afraid he might have to hold your pink bag for a minute or two, lol. Love the quilty inspiration ~
